Srinagar, Aug 22 (KNO): Paras Health Srinagar will organise a free multi-speciality health camp on Sunday to offer free consultations to people.
Addressing a news conference here, Facility Director, Dr Murtuza Habib, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), urged people to come and avail free services and get screened from the specialists.
“The initiative is aimed at improving access to specialist healthcare and encouraging people to seek timely medical advice.”
He said that the camp will include health screening, treatment guidance and awareness services. “It will bring specialists from departments including oncology, cardiology, cardiac surgery and other specialities under one roof. Special discount will be offered on investigations during the camp.”
Medical Superintendent, Paras Health Srinagar, Dr Shafaat Ahmad Kenu, said, “This is a big camp and a great opportunity for people to meet specialists and avail themselves of this opportunity.”
He said the hospital is also focusing on awareness and early detection, particularly in cases where people tend to delay consultation or rely on over-the-counter medicines. “We urge people not to take over-the-counter medications. Consult a specialist. You have tertiary care facilities available, and Paras Hospital is with you,” Dr Kenu said.
He said the hospital wanted to expand its reach beyond Srinagar and connect with patients in far-flung areas by providing free services and organising regular outreach programmes. “We are providing free medical services. We want to expand our reach to patients, not only in Srinagar but in far-flung areas also, so that people can come to us and we can help them with their problems,” he said.
Dr Kenu said Paras Health regularly conducts outreach OPDs and camps in different areas, adding that the hospital organises around two camps every month and would continue to strengthen communication with people in remote areas.
He also highlighted the importance of early consultation in cancer cases, saying gastric, colorectal, gallbladder and pancreatic cancers are among the serious diseases requiring timely specialist intervention. “We want people to come and get their health checked. Our doctors are well qualified and trained from outside, and we want to connect with our people and provide them solutions,” he said.
Consultant Cardiologist, PARAS Health Srinagar, Dr Mohsin Raj Mantoo said cardiovascular screening and prevention would also be an important part of the initiative.
He said people with risk factors including hypertension, diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol and a history of stroke should undergo regular screening to detect potential problems early.
Dr Mantoo said symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations and swelling in the body should not be ignored. “Every second matters, especially in cardiology. If it is a patient with a heart problem or an MI, be it midday or midnight, we make every second count,” he said.
Dr Mantoo said emergency cardiac patients are attended to on priority and urgent procedures are undertaken without delay whenever required.
“As soon as I get a call, if I am here at the hospital, I am in the emergency room in less than a minute. If the patient requires an urgent procedure, we do it on priority. We stop everything else and do it on priority,” he said.
Dr Mantoo said the objective is to promote preventive healthcare and ensure that people recognise warning signs before a condition becomes critical.
Other specialist and Surgical Gastroenterologist, Dr Hamza Wani appealed to people to attend the camp and consult specialists regarding their health concerns, particularly those who have been experiencing persistent symptoms or have known risk factors—(KNO)
